5 Easy Ways to Create Backlinks to Optimize Offsite SEO

5 Easy Ways to Create Backlinks to Optimize Offsite SEO

I recently made a post highlighting onsite SEO, talking about four fundamentals you should know to help understand the topic. I originally wanted to make a similar post for offsite SEO, but I felt like an instructional article would be more useful. Here are five ways to create backlinks for your website.

Backlinks are one of the most important parts of offsite SEO. Backlinks help your site’s reputation, allows your page to be indexed, and can even bring people directly to your website. It’s important to know that not all backlinks are equal. A backlink where I put my website in a reddit comment is not going to have the same amount of value as Forbes referencing my website. Of course, it’s not easy trying to get your site referenced by a major magazine or news page. However, getting some weaker backlinks are a lot easier and when you’re just getting started and still very helpful for your site.

  1. Blogspot/Blogger

Getting weak backlinks can all be done yourself, and I can provide several examples of methods I used for this very site. My first recommendation is having a blogspot backlink. It’s as simple as creating a Blogger page and pasting the link on one of your blogs. Whenever I type in my site’s URL, the Blogspot page pops up which means it’s a pretty effective backlink.

  1. X (Twitter)

There’s other ways I try to index my own site, and one consistent and easy method is to use X (formerly Twitter) to post every new blog post I make. There’s a way to share new blog posts directly on WordPress, and it’s as simple as pressing the X button right after publishing. Not only does it help index my latest posts, my captions on X can also reach new users on the platform.

  1. Hotfrog

Hotfrog serves as an online directory for millions of URLs. This is one of the easiest backlinks to set up, requiring no sign-in and it’s entirely free. While it’s unlikely anyone will ever stumble onto your site because of this backlink, it’s one of the many easy backlinks to get set up for your site.

  1. Reddit

This can potentially be one of the most useful backlinks you can have depending on what your site is meant for. Using Reddit might require you to do a little research on certain subreddits, but if you have a practical use for sharing your site to people this can be an incredibly useful backlink. For example, let’s say you have a Michigan-based company where you allow people to rent out water vehicles like jet skis. By scouring communities like r/Michigan, you can look for specific posts that say something along the lines of “what’s a good place to rent out jet skis in Michigan?” That allows you to share your site with people that are actively looking for what your site provides. The best part about reddit is that if your response has a lot of upvotes, it will pop up on Google searches for people asking the same question as the reddit post.

  1. Tumblr

While not as effective as Reddit, Tumblr is a pretty easy site to create an active backlink. Creating an account is free, and pasting your URL as a post is an easy way to index your site. Similar to what I mentioned for X, WordPress gives you the option to share all of your new blog posts on Tumblr as well.

Bonus – Make.com

This is an indirect method of creating backlinks, and this is a way to automate backlinks on X and Tumblr whenever you make a new blogpost. By creating an AI agent, you can hook up your X and Tumblr account to automate posts for all of your latest posts the moment you press publish. Make.com can be a little tricky to get the hang of, and it also can cost money if you use it often, but the payoff once you create the automation system can save you a lot of time.

So these were five methods to easily create active backlinks for your website. All of these methods are free, and take no more than a few minutes for each. Let me know if there are some other methods to create easy backlinks in the comments below!
